Panic attacks are not all in the mind. It’s the inappropriate arousal of the body’s defence mechanism known as the fight or flight response. In years gone by when our ancestors met danger like a wild animal they would need to fight it or run away. The body prepared by releasing a massive dose of adrenaline into the blood stream. Halting the digestion system, raising the blood pressure and sending blood to the major muscle groups. But nowadays most threats are psychological and the chemicals that are released into the blood stream don’t get used in the way they were intended, it’s these chemicals that cause the feelings known as panic attacks. Although these feelings are very unpleasant they are not in anyway dangerous in the short term although it’s probably not that good for your health long term to keep on experiencing such high degrees of stress.
Although panic is a physical response it can not be created without certain internally created mental pictures. For example a person that describes themselves as agoraphobic may create a huge imaginary picture in their mind of themselves having a major panic attack and passing out if they were to leave their own home. Your imagination is linked to your feelings and what you imagine will have an impact on the way you feel. If you're creating scary images in your mind then you are almost certain to be causing yourself anxiety or even panic.
For some time now medical science has been trying to provide an answer as to why some people are prone to anxiety disorders. It may well be that there are lots of people around that need to take yet another tablet, this time to control the types of thoughts that people have. If your more inclined to believe that you are personally in charge of how you use your own mind then I could help you overcome panic attacks. You could overcome panic attacks rather quickly with the right kind of help and remember if you stop yourself from making contact with me because you're scared to then it's highly likely that you have already imagined how awful things may be and that is one of the ways in which you begin to create the next panic attack.
